DIY Cocktail Ring

We had a completely insane weekend. They type of weekend where you are going from one event straight to the next. Way too crazy. Buuuuuuut, I did find the time to make this adorable cocktail ring I wore to a benefit yesterday. I am in LOVE with it.

Please excuse the old lady hands. I take after my mother in that aspect I am afraid. (Sorry Momma, but it's true!)

So do you wanna make one? You should because it is SO easy!!!

I found this tutorial over at the The Crafting Chicks. (Love them!)  Here is what I did:

What You'll Need:
Hot Glue
1 pack of rick rack (Should make about 3 rosettes)
Ring Blanks

I used jumbo rick rack, although I think medium would have been better. (Terrible pic, sorry!)

Cut two strips of rick rack. I cut mine into about 12 inches long strips, but its up to you and how big you want your flower. Wind the two strips together. I put a little hot glue at the top just to make sure they didn't unwind.

When your two strands are wound together, wind the entire strand up like a sleeping bag (does that make any sense???). Dab a little hot glue it every now an then so it doesn't unroll on you and stays nice and tight.

When you are done, hot glue the last piece so the rosette is nice and tight. It should look like this.

I bought these super cute ring blanks at Michael's. I think they were $3.99 for 6.

Glue the rosette on the ring blank. Then, you have to "open" the petals to make it look like a flower. Just bend each little petal back. You will probably have to keep doing this from time to time.

And viola, a super cute cocktail ring made in about 5 minutes!!

And here are a couple of super cute shots from our weekend:

{How ADORABLE is this photo? This is my sweet nephew Dane who turned three this weekend! He had an adorable Batman themed birthday party on Saturday. Emme and Dane are BEST friends. It is ridiculously cute.}

{"Thank you for the matching cup cakes Auntie Britani! I LOVED them, obvo. Love, Little T" Hehe..}

{She also loved the croutons off of the salad...}

{The cousins are at it again!}

{I couldn't con my girls into taking a pic with Momma but Dane was ok with it! How cute is he?!?!?}

{You can find Em doing this a lot throughout the day. She likes her food! ;) }

Blessings,

I love this!! And I'm always in the mood for a quick project. I'll have to be on the lookout for ring blanks suitable for sensitive skin, which runs in my family... since this is such a sweet gift-able!!

Hmmm. Ok, so I love this ring, BUT....I gave it a go this afternoon and I guess I don't understand the "roll it up like a sleeping bag." because mine came out flat. Doesn't look like a tight little ball at all. :\

I just made two last night, one black and one white. I used the medium size rick-rack and it turned out cute but the petals don't seem to lay as neatly as yours with the jumbo version. What happens if you only use one layer of rick-rack, instead of weaving them? I'm planning to make a few more this weekend!
